About Us

In 2020 Advocate [insert name] decided to establish Vaka Aka Tiiko in order to help male victims of gender-based violence. Advocate [insert name] noticed that across the cases of gender-based violence she dealt with, men often felt unheard and unsupported when it came to their pain and redress. Not only did they feel unheard and unsupported they also feared speaking about their ordeals or reporting their incidents to police because of the ridicule and embarrassment that comes with being a male victim of abuse in South Africa. So, with that in mind Advocate [insert name] decided to start an organisation for men where they get help and guidance as well as have a safe space to talk about their struggles and pain.
